The method

Why we make this call

The provenance marks on every page grade individual facts. This page grades the reasoning instead — a few of Rome, Solved.’s calls, with what they depend on, what we still don’t know, and the case that would flip them. Nothing here is new content; it’s the same editorial record the book already keeps, made readable before you buy.

Why we don't print a fixed booking-window number for the Colosseum arena

The call
Instead of a fixed "book sixty days ahead" rule, the book says to check the official release window and gives the current observed window (about a week out) as a dated data point, not a rule.
What it depends on
The arena-floor ticket's release window is set by the Colosseum's own operator and has changed before — a third-round fact check found it is currently about seven days out, not the sixty days an earlier draft assumed.
What we don’t know
What the window will be on YOUR travel date. Operators change release schedules without much notice, and this book cannot predict that.
What would flip it
The Underground add-on — a different, guided product — DOES sell out weeks ahead and deserves the old caution; the book now separates the two instead of applying one number to both.
What we refused
A single fixed day-count printed as timeless advice. Doing so would have been wrong again within a year, the same way the sixty-day figure this book used to print already was.

Last changed: 2026-10-10 — a third-round fact audit found the old sixty-day figure still echoed in five separate places (a table, a checklist, a wallet card, a failure-mode entry, a pocket card) after the main paragraph had already been corrected; all five were rewritten to point at the live official page instead of a number.
